In recognition of this, sometimes they are referred to as Fenster Diamond Quartz. They grew fast, leading to chaotic elestial formations having complex interior structures. A Fenster Quartz has many chambers, phantoms and windows within the crystal. This gives the crystal its name. From German, ‘Fenster’ means window. These windows are triangular planar formations within the crystal structure.

The complex skeletal structure happens because the crystal has formed in unstable conditions, causing stop-start and irregular growth. The myriad interior planes and windows give rise to dancing patterns of light when the crystal is turned in light. Fensters can also feature elestial formations and enhydros.
