Tektites can have a similar appearance to obsidian, but have a different chemical composition. Obsidian usually contains a significant proportion of water, while Tektites lack it entirely. This difference results from their formation arising from a meteor impact on our planet Earth. This collision creates extremely high temperatures, evaporating any water present.
