Green Tourmaline crystals on twinned Quartz with extra features 33.4ct 6.7g
This specimen is Green Tourmaline crystals on twinned Quartz with extra features. It weighs 33.4ct, which is 6.7g. This small but complicated specimen is formed by a twinned Clear Quartz crystal and Green Tourmaline. The quartz has a number of unusual crystal structure formations including a five-sided Isis face and a window timelink, which is an extra diamond-shaped facet. It was sourced from the gem fields of Afghanistan for Rocks and Things Store by Lawrence Handicrafts.
The Green Tourmaline is a form of Elbaite. This is an igneous mineral that is a complex lithium-rich borosilicate. Elbaite usually forms as heavily-striated elongated rods or prismatic crystals. Elbaite can be any colour of the rainbow, and crystals can be multi-coloured.
