This Fenster Quartz with fluorescence selection weighs 5g to 8g. The crystals range in length from 12mm to 22mm. Many are double terminated. They all have the recognisable Fenster appearance. The presence of hydrocarbons embedded within the crystal structure gives rise to the fluorescence. This UV reaction is quite beautiful with glowing yellows and other shifting colours.
Fenster quartz is named for its complex interior structure, with many chambers, phantoms and windows within the crystal. From German, ‘Fenster’ means window. These windows are triangular planar formations within the crystal structure. The complex skeletal structure happens because the crystal has formed in unstable conditions, causing stop-start and irregular growth. The myriad interior planes and windows give rise to dancing patterns of light when the crystal is turned in light. Fensters can also feature elestial formations and enhydros. The complex formation gives Fenster Quartz additional healing properties to the extensive properties of regular Quartz.
