These Chalcopyrite cluster from Pakistan selections weigh 31-50.7g They are from Pakistan. Lawrence Handicrafts sourced these specimens for Rocks and Things Store. The two larger clusters are floral in appearance and the smaller is a Chalcopyrite ball. 

Chalcopyrite is a brassy-gold copper iron sulphide mineral often showing iridescent colours. It is a major Copper ore, composed of Copper Iron Sulphide. It can host various trace elements including Arsenic, Bismuth, Cobalt, Silver, Stibnite and others. It is common in sulphide veins and is disseminated in igneous rocks. Weathering may lead to the formation of Malachite, Azurite and numerous other secondary copper minerals. Its brass yellow colour can also give way to iridescent green and grey colouring from surface oxidation.

Exposing Chalcopyrite to acid changes its colours to deep purple, blues, violets, and yellows. This treated Chalcopyrite is commonly referred to as ‘Peacock Ore’. Naturally occurring Peacock Ore is the exceedingly rare Bornite mineral.
