Zoisite is a calcium aluminium silicate hydroxide and forms its own group of minerals. It is formed from the metamorphosis of alkaline igneous rocks. Zoisites can be found in a green and black striped or spotted pattern. Zoisite is usually found combined with other minerals, most commonly with Ruby. Its green colour comes from the presence of chromium and vanadium.
