This complicated specimen is formed by a twinned quartz crystal and Green Tourmaline. The quartz has a number of unusual crystal structure formations including a five-sided Isis face and a window timelink, which is an extra diamond-shaped facet. It was sourced the Gemfields of Afghanistan for Rocks and Things by Lawrence Riaz.

The Green Tourmaline is a form of Elbaite. This is an igneous mineral that is a complex lithium-rich borosilicate. Elbaite usually forms as heavily-striated elongated rods or prismatic crystals. Elbaite can be any colour of the rainbow, and crystals can be multi-coloured.

Location: Afghanistan, Brazil, Madagascar, Namibia, Pakistan, US
