Indicolite, not Elbaite

This rare Blue Tourmaline Indicolite cluster from Afghanistan weighs 4.8g. This wonderful specimen was obtained in the gem-fields of Afghanistan for Rocks and Things Store by our partner, Lawrence Handicrafts.

This Indicolite natural crystal does not appear to be a member of the Elbaite mineral family. Blue Tourmaline is also known as Indicolite and most is Elbaite This mineral usually forms as elongated rods or prismatic crystals that are heavily striated. Instead, this great specimen appears closer to Schorl, Black Tourmaline.
