This specimen is a Green Tourmaline on Elestial Quartz with Feldspar matrix 18*57*40mm weighing 40g. It was sourced in Afghanistan for us by our partner, Lawrence Handicrafts. 

Green Tourmaline is a beautiful complex lithium-rich borosilicate mineral. Elbaite usually forms as elongated rods or prismatic crystals that are heavily striated. Green (and blue) Elbaite crystals are often pleochroic, which means that the crystal appears darker in colour when viewed along its vertical axis, compared to viewing along its horizontal axis. Elbaite is an igneous mineral that almost always forms in granite pegmatites.
