This cluster has two prominent Green Tourmaline crystals that are 21/22 mm long. Forming second, the slightly shorter Elbaite crystal has been forced into a rare curve by its Calcite crystal host. Throughout the matrix there is a mass of more Tourmaline crystals, mostly a pale green, with spots of pink. The cluster is UV reactive. This specimen was sourced from the gem-fields of Afghanistan for Rocks and Things in 2023 by Lawrence Riaz.
Elbaite is a complex lithium-rich borosilicate mineral. Elbaite usually forms as heavily-striated elongated rods or prismatic crystals. Elbaite can be any colour of the rainbow, and crystals can be multi-coloured. Black is rare.
