This cluster has two main Green Tourmaline crystals that are 21/22 mm long. Forming second, the slightly shorter Elbaite crystal has been forced into a rare curve by its Calcite crystal host. This specimen was sourced from the Gemfields of Afghanistan for Rocks and Things in 2023 by Lawrence Riaz.
Elbaite is an igneous mineral that usually forms in granite pegmatites. It is a complex lithium-rich borosilicate mineral. Elbaite usually forms as heavily-striated elongated rods or prismatic crystals. Elbaite can be any colour of the rainbow, and crystals can be multi-coloured. Black is rare.
