This Blue Tanzanite round cut gemstone 11*8mm weighs 7.95ct or 1.8g. Tanzanite is a very rare stone, found only in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. The mining area is small at only four kilometers wide and two kilometers deep. Tanzanite is a rare monatomic Andara crystal. They are like an obsidian glass material in that they were heated to high temperatures by volcanism. It is their foundation of monatomic metallic elements that differentiate them from all other types of crystals, volcanic/natural glass, as well as man-made glass. Unlike glass, monatomic Andara crystals are heliocentric. This means they exhibit colour shifts amongst their esoteric properties. These colour shifts owe to its trichroic nature, having three distinct colours, depending on your viewing angle. This faceted crystal has been heat treated to further bring out its colours.
